Gray Matters Kenya is a social impact enterprise that is providing affordable container conversions in Kenya. Gray Matters Kenya is a subsidiary of Gray Matters Capital, a United States Foundation based in Atlanta Georgia.

Gray Matters Kenya is currently providing modular classrooms using retrofitted shipping containers to the informal and rural settlements in Kenya, where we have fabricated over 120 classrooms and dormitories using shipping containers. These containers are safe, durable, affordable, portable, faster to fabricate and require little space.

Gray Matters Kenya has a highly qualified staff with over 50 years of combined container fabrication experience.

Classroom Installation Process

There are various processes that we take to make these classes what they are today. Out of intensive research, careful engineering and brilliant innovation strategies prepared by our team, we seek to provide a quality and affordable solution to schools and a great learning environment to every child.

Foundation

It takes two weeks for the pillars to cure. In the mean time the containers are painted and prepared according to the customised preferences colours and other requirements of the client.

Installation

Containers are fabricated in a controlled environment then they’re transported on 18 wheeler trucks to the site.

Fittings and Adjustments On Site

The fabricated containers are installed using a crane and it takes a few hours to put them in place.

Finished Classrooms

At this stage the windows, flooring, blackboards and stairs are installed on site.

-The whole process takes about three weeks for a full installation
